The first installment for the real estate and personal property and the motor vehicle tax bills for the City of Norwich 2024 Grand List will become due July 1, 2025.  Per CT State Statute, the last day to pay these bills without penalty is August 1, 2025.   Any payment made or postmarked after August 1, 2025 will accrue interest at the rate of 1.5%, 18% per year, or $2.00, whichever is greater.  This interest goes back to the due date of the tax bill which is July 1, 2025.

 

Both the July and January installment for the real estate and personal property will be mailed with the July billing.  We do not mail a separate bill for January, so please mark your calendar. If you need a duplicate copy please feel free print a copy of this bill through our website at www.norwichct.org.   If you have additional questions please contact the Tax Office at 860-823-3760.

 

Per CT State Statute, failure to receive a tax bill does not negate the tax or interest.

 

The City of Norwich has partnered with M&T Bank, to provide Norwich residents the option to make tax payments at either of the 2 M&T Bank branch locations in Norwich, including:

 

  • 624 West Main Street
  • 45 Town Street

During the month of July, taxpayers can present their current real estate, personal property,  or motor vehicle supplemental bills to the M&T Bank branch of your choice (including the drive-up window), where payment(s) can be processed via cash or check.  Delinquent taxes will not be accepted at bank locations and must be paid at the City Hall Tax Office located at 100 Broadway.

Taxpayers do not need to be a M&T Bank customer to make their payment at a branch location.  This partnership provides greater access and convenience to taxpayers.

The City of Norwich also offers other options for payments. Payments can be made online at www.norwichct.org, by mail, and in-person payments during normal business hours.
