Building Fees
Permit Fees
- For work regulated by the State Building Code: $40 per first $1,000 and $20 per each additional $1,000 of construction value, minimum $35, except as follows:
- Annual maintenance permit fee: $250 in addition to required permit fees
- Mobile Homes: $950
- Temporary installations, not exceeding 30 days: $100 per event
- Certificate of Approval: $25 (required unless receiving a Certificates of Occupancy)
- Certificates of Occupancy:
- R-2, R-3, R-4, 1-family and 2-family: $75 per separate dwelling or sleeping unit
- All other use groups: $150 per occupancy unit
- Temporary installations: $50
- Relocation of any building from one location to another: Same as new buildings
- The fees for permits for the demolition of any structure shall be in accordance with the following schedule:

| The fee to extend an existing permit shall be . Permits valid 180 days | $50.00 |
| *All fees and penalties established under Section 4-5 shall be in addition to all fees, penalties and surcharges which the city is required to collect and remit to the State of Connecticut. |
- Work performed without permits: Fee of $250.00
- Extend an existing permit up to 30 days: $350
Document & Other Fees
- Initial plan reviews:
- 1-family or 2-family buildings: 150
- All other types: $150
- Subsequent plan reviews:
- 1-family or 2-family buildings: $35
- All other types: $50
- Occupancy analysis: $70 for existing business and $125.00 for new businesses
- Applications for modification of the State Building Code: $30
- Applications to the Building Code Board of Appeals: $200
- Required re-inspections: $50 (first) $100 (ea subsequent)
- Requested additional or non-permit related inspections: $100
- Inspections during other than normal business hours: $125 per hour, minimum 3 hours
- Copies:
- Photocopies: $1 per page
- Plans or maps: $8 per sheet
State Education Fee
- Per thousand of construction value: $0.26 ($0026 per dollar)
Refund Policy
(Building and Trades Permit Fee Refund Request Policy per State Building Code Section 108.6)
- All refund requests must be submitted to the Building Official in writing.
- Refund request must be submitted within 30 days of application approval.
- All refunds are subject to $50.00 Admin fee.
- No refunds will be made if review is done and / or an inspection has been made.
Education Fee Refund
- 100% if permit is not issued
- No refund if permit is issued
